You know several people in North Carolina with local numbers?
Yes SunCom has an agreement with T-Mobile. SunCom also has an agreement with Cingular, actually when Cingular bought AT&T, Cingular had to divest themselves from alot of markets in North Carolina and these customers were turned over to SunCom. SunCom promptly required every ex-Cingular customer to resign their contracts and purchase new phones. It was a huge stink, all over the news for weeks.
But the agreement would not help in this situation. Since T-Mobile does not have local numbers here, one would have to go with SunCom as there are no local numbers for T-Mobile. In our area Cingular actually leases their block of numbers from Sprint.
Any company you decide to have cellular service with has to offer local numbers in order to use them. US Cellular is similar as they only offer local numbers for the very western part of the state.
The absolute best way to see where the towers are that your cellular provider owns (thus provides local numbers for) is to look at the coverage map for their prepaid service. Most providers only allow the use of prepaid phones on their "owned" networks and charge you for use on other networks.
I worked for Alltel for 3 years and am currently the Market Director for another national CDMA carrier. In my 15 years in the cellular industry, it constantly amazes me that there is cellular service in the US at all. The spectrum (A side and B side radio frequencies) ownership is so fragmented across the US that it is almost impossible to know who owns what, where!
I understand the local numbers thing, but just because North Carolina doesn't get local numbers doesn't mean T-Mobile isn't a real, national carrier.
North Carolina sounds funny when it comes to cell phones. I like Suncom's phone selection a lot better than anyone else's, and it sounds like SunCom's the only way to go out there. Here in Colorado, CDMA dominates, but T-Mobile has a big presence here, too. Cingular is nearly non-existent.
That AT&T thing sounds awful. Did a lawsuit occur in that? Also, I think Cingular's numbers are leased in a lot of places. In case you haven't used the reverse phone lookup on whitepages.com, it will tell you who the service provider is, but everytime I look up the two people I know with Cingular, it comes up saying Blue Licenses Holding, Llc or Routt County Wireless (which isn't a local carrier nor is Denver in Routt County.)
Yeah, the whole spectrum thing is funny. My dad is a doctor, and one of his patients worked for Qwest Wireless, and he put in a tower for us by our house because there was this deadspot nearby. Since Qwest sold their network to Sprint, it's now a Sprint tower, and the funny thing is, it also looks like a T-Mobile tower on their coverage check. And i can't tell if Verizon has one there or not. My phone has bad reception. It's so odd.

Wait, nerds, being beer snobs? No way.
Researching to see how best to get apple engineers drunk perhaps?
Graffiti Alphabet,GraffitiI just got off a plane in Atlanta waiting for my connection so I paid the $6 to get wireless internet on my laptop just so I can see what the announcements are. Steve better make it worth my while!

graffiti alphabet letters e.when people say "it's China we're talking about", I wanna know how much do you really know about China and its system... from your news and tv/movie?
No, they will not get death penalty for this, and they will go to jail.
As of death penalty, don't you know there are death penalty in some states in the US? Anyways, these people are not gonna be put to sleep whether in China or the USA, don't worry.
If you can read Chinese, the source news NEVER said that those 3 people were "arrested" by police. The authority started investigating the case last year, and those 3 people were charged with Offence against Commercial Secrets. They deserve it because they probably made a lot of money of this.
Some laws are still there in a different country because they works there, or they are needed there. so don't put your western values on everything you see, just saying.
Don't tell me where to put my western values. It is not government's job to uphold the corporatocracy by putting employees in jail whenever their employer doesn't like what they did. Even worse in a communist country where the "employer" and the government might be one and the same. I have every right to know how governments treat their citizens if I might be buying their products.
In general, trade secrets are a civil matter in the US, not a criminal matter - there is no arrest, there is no go to jail, it is a financial matter.
If this article is wrong and these people were not "arrested" as the article says, then the article absolutely needs to be corrected.

Then will you address the thousands that wanted the EV1 at that time?
Perhaps it was people with money, or say, people with the future in mind.
And not profits based on fossil fuels, and planned obsolescence.
graffiti alphabet letters j.Cool! The 750 GB HDD option on the iMac is pretty sweet. For a AIO like the iMac, it's nice to see Apple equipping it with options like this (and the 3 GB of RAM) which will extend its longevity.
Also, nice to see the Xserve is finally available for ordering, I know our lab guys have wanted to pick one up for the longest time.
graffiti alphabet letters j.I had no idea how cricket was played until this past week while in India. It seems that cricket is quite popular there, and was one of the few sports available in English on the tele, so I watched it. After a little while I was able to figure out the basics - overs, wickets, bowlers, etc. - as wells as how the scoring works.
What I find amazing is how long the matches (tests?) last. There was a news story about a growing trend - "3 hour cricket". Sounds good to me!
Turns out a guy I work with used to play cricket (he's from Jamaica) so he was giving me some more information about the game. It's pretty cool.
graffiti alphabet letters j.Princetonians, in my experience, are fratboys, prudes, and associated squares--by far the worst of the Ivies. Not a creative bone in the entire student body. They wouldn't know Macintosh if it bit them in their collective beige butt.
So tell me, how on earth is this good news? Unimaginative folk like these don't belong on our platform. Much better to celebrate the longstanding prevalence of Macs on progressive, independent-minded, and artistic campuses such as Brown and Columbia. But Princeton? Give me a break.
Ouch, somebody is jealous. Spend less time at TI and Cottage next time you visit, please.

There's this apparent debate over whether it'll be aluminum or magnesium, but I'm not sure that Wu and AppleInsider's sources are really in disagreement. It'll probably be an aluminum-magnesium alloy, similar to what is used in soda cans, only thicker and with a different finish.
Blue Graffiti Alphabet LettersNa, these two have and will survive without iPhone.
These already have traffic capability anyway ( via subscription ).
The only reason I feel that way is the likes of Nokia with their already solid mapping available for Symbian and undoubtedly WP7 once it hits, Google Maps and the potential for an Apple designed mapping solution that would be available to literally millions of smartphone users. Not seen nothing from RIM or Palm yet tho.
With Smartphone ownership on the rise, from affordable symbian/android handsets to premium iOS/WP7 and Android handsets, there will be a lot of people out there with a gps solution in their pockets.
Perhaps im jumping the gun but i think it could really affect stand alone units. :)
Graffiti Alphabet Letter JThere's something strange about coffee shops and Mac laptops. They seem to attract the same crowd. Hanging out in coffee bars toying on a Macbook - it does have a certain, almost clicheed, image, doesn't it?
Yes, it does, because I am one of those people. :)
Market share is overrated. As long as Apple continues its 2-5% share, they are fine.
graffiti alphabet letters j. stock vector : graffiti; stock vector : graffiti. ciTiger. May 3, 03:22 PM. This is a major setback IMHO.And Steve Jobs is not a liar or crazy. He's a marketeer and a showman and will defend his Apple at all cost and will portrait his company as perfect and untouchable.
There is a fine fine FINE line.
Steve wrote to me (yes - I'm the one of the people he wrote to at the beginning) and told me it was a non issue. If it's a non issue - why the open letter? Why the press conference? Why the bad press?
During this whole scenario - Steve, while I don't disagree is a great marketeer, has been Apple's WORST enemy. He might be a genius. He might think he knows what customers want or need.
But - in regards to this ISSUE - he doesn't know how to communicate effectively or appropriately to his customers.
Graffiti Alphabet Letters J.I would love to have a GPS and a few GB of worldwide maps on an iPhone. I'm not always within range of a tower and I don't even want to think about foreign data rates...
This is the one thing I will give Google credit for. Google Earth works really well when you have a fast internet connection. The issue is how to you find friends on the map (based on them sharing their location with you), stores, tourist attractions, and the best route to take when you might not have the best coverage or there are thousands of people trying to use their phones to get data or calls...
Apple could use some of their cash to buy a TomTom or Garmin though...

With such a great delay the XServes are coming at the same time Intel will release the first Quad-Core Clovertown CPUs.
Is Apple delaying so much in order to ship the XServe with Clovertown instead of Woodcrest?

As I recall, many 6GB ram kits were having issues on the Late 08 Macs, so OWC started selling verified kits that were slightly more expensive but guaranteed to work. So I guess I'm saying beware, and test it out fully. If that kit does work for you, please share your experience. Maybe I'll pick up a pair too.

HAHAH.. Israel should be a CHRISTIAN STATE and abolish their tyrannical government and be a true light unto the nations..
Riiiight. And how, may i ask, do you suggest that will happen? First you want to give it back to the palestinians (who are mostly not christian), and now you want to make it a christian state. make up your mind buddy. If it were a christian state you would still have to take the land from the palestinians.
