This is called waste of brain power ... cramming as much as you can from the dictionary and god knows what. It would have been much better if a child learns some skill or diverts the mind towards exploring a problem or invention . What use is cramming the dictionary when it is available right on your phone now . If you have the internet all the world's knowledge is searchable.
There are much better uses for the brain power.
People can have different opinion about this ---cramming or not cramming but matter of the fact is that is still a great achievement .
Proves that we indian rock in whatever we decide to do in life and that can be medicine/IT/Law/ working to do some invention / spelling or whatever. People can have different intrests in life but matter of fact stays same that we indians are one of the most hard working race.

I agree that the current political climate is so screwed up that, they are not doing anything except in a reactionary way. Part of it is a lack of visionary leadership, "W" has hardly been able to unite the country behind much legislation. The Congressmen have been too entrenched in political gamesmanship and more interested in political survival than the broader national interest. Nothing illustrated this more than the recent bailout legislation. Noone liked it but clearly there was no other option either. The lack of conviction in the way congress approached it however means, they spent 840 billion (instead of 700) and even that seems too little too late. And it might even end up being the first of many more bailouts. Sometimes you indeed can be too late to help out and drag it out more than necessary. Much is all about perception and confidence. Finally, vocal special interests who have selfishness and ideology at heart have no doubt contributed to this toxic mess, and elected officials seem less and less able to divorce themselves of their undue influence (it was not always that way in this country).
The one saving grace is that an election is in the offing. Honestly it will be a breath of fresh air, no matter who is elected. Someone can then project some leadership and actually get something done. This last 4 yr term has been especially useless in terms of getting anything at all done, not just on the immigration front but any front at all.

I did refered earlier in this forum ,about www.givemeinsurance.com , a desi agent deals with Farmers Insurance in Texas only.
I got mine and my wife insurance with him for $15 a month covering 250K Term Life insurance ( We are on H1 )

yea i hope USCIS completely cleanses the system and gets things back to the way it was pre - 2000
except for mayb 5% of the bodyshoppers ( i could be wrong as i'm not frm IT , have friends who tell me etc) rest all 95% commit fraud to some degree or the other
they need to be weeded out
Look, the H1 quota was not sufficient even when it was set at 115,000 pre-2000. It was only when it was set to 195,000 in 2001 that the quota exceeded demand. Now thanks to the report by USCIS last year, we know that about 20% of the H applications had fraud or technical violations. Even if you assume that the USCIS does a perfect job and catches this 20%, the quota that will be freed up won't be enough for the rest of the applicants.
The issues we face have less to do with fraud and more to do with the anti-immigration forces who dislike the 1965 immigration law. Claiming fraud, cheap labor, harm to the environment from increased population are just convenient means to couch opposition to permanent immigration in.

I understand from the posts that some of you got i-140 and other perm labor documents. Would it be fine to write on g-639 as mentioned below to get I-140 and other perm related documents
Request for a copy of approved i-140, petition of i-140 and perm labor documents.
Could you be more specific or elaborate what to mention on the g-639 form under #4 which says Identify the documents records , or information you are seeking?

Man, he was doing a sugar coated talk when I was looking for job, and through out his speech he was talking only in millions, like we bought this company ABC last month for 20 million, and in walks in the owner of ABC Company with ragged clothes, really! man who has 20 million.

With all due respect, the probelem I have with volunteers is that I don't think amtures can pull a job this big, you've got to have profesionals, somethng like a compain maneger.
I admire the courage of your guys, and think the goal is fantastic. But the way it goes, I don't see how it can be achieved.
I've learned a great deal about immigration from the forum here. I very much appreciate it. I try to give back by answering questions others may have. I think IV has been doing a great job serving as that capacity.
But you guys want do something bigger. Well, you have faith in it, I don't, at least not now, neither many others. Maybe that is why you are still asking for money and volunteers.

I received my EAD last month. But no AP yet. However, i received an email from my lawyer today that.....my AP got rejected. The rejection letter is saying that I485 got approved that's why the I131 is rejected.....therefore, my lawyer is waiting for the I485 approval.....but my lawyer told me that I can expect my card soon.
I don't know how to react. The online doesn't have any update about the I485 status yet. They received my application on July 2, 2007.

Nothing significant is expected from this speech. Most politicians repeat the same 3 things- Secure our borders, provide path to citizenship to millions and welcome best and the brightest. The real question is when they will do the real work on immigration. There have been some discussions on administrative fixes on immigration. However some of these fixes would politically harm democrats in the upcoming elections.

`(e) Inapplicability of Numerical Limitations- When an alien is granted lawful permanent resident status under this subsection, the number of immigrant visas authorized to be issued under any provision of this Act shall not be reduced. The numerical limitations of sections 201 and 202 shall not apply to adjustment of status under this section
This ia a dangerous clause. So basically, an unlawfull alien residing in US for past 5 years gets change his status to PR, moreover he is not restricted by the per country limit he can go from filing I-485 to get a Visa number allotted to him practically overnight..and not having to wait like folks from India or China ....
I dont think this bills has anything favourable to legal immigrants... It better to apply as the other category ....

What many people fail to see is that it is not IV core, or a manager or something that will get us out of this, it is OUR COLLECTIVE actions. The results will be directly proportional to what we put in.
Whether you help this effort in any way is about individual responsibility. If you are unwilling to do anything, and there are many ways to contribute and all and any of these are welcome, then frankly, your interest in this advocacy has to be questioned.

What many people fail to see is that it is not IV core, or a manager or something that will get us out of this, it is OUR COLLECTIVE actions. The results will be directly proportional to what we put in.
Whether you help this effort in any way is about individual responsibility. If you are unwilling to do anything, and there are many ways to contribute and all and any of these are welcome, then frankly, your interest in this advocacy has to be questioned.

yes i saw that - i think he confused another international participant with kavya who is from kansas - he did compliment her initially & then went abt rooting for the 2nd placed kid for the rest of the time - a bizarre 'macaca' moment
