My PD is current for almost a year and Name check is cleared in July 2008.

Folks,
I bought whole life insurance for my wife year ago for $300k from PRUDENTIAL, monthly premium is $116/month but $72 went to admin. and tran. charges. Although I paid $1276 last year, my balance was $476 after 25.2 % return on funds. whole life has surrender charges apart from hefty financial charges ,so you can not withdraw when you want.
I took $1500 loss and canceled my whole life insurance policy since I do not want to waste 70% of my premium as a financial charges.you are feeding for a company and agent s getting heavy commission on this.
Buy term life insurance and invest in Vanguard Index funds for investment purpose.

There are limits to everything - and to worries too. Of course you don't want to be taking meaningless risks, but to live like a chicken is not an option either. But this is more philosophical, here is my question.
USCIS may send RFEs for whatever and whoever they think it's reasonable. They can investigate and reinvestigate and GC holders and citizens, it's their job. Now tell me. How many you know of GC holders who got denied their citizenships because they just threw away their W2s? How many GCs were actually revoked and people were deported because USCIS investigated company and found out that most of the employees were H1b?
Here is case of my cousin, he had his GC for many years, his wife and kids got citizenships. He didn't because he didn't accrue his 5 years in the US. He felt that he would be more successful in his home country. So he had business over there and was traveling back and forth to/from US. Once, at airport the immigration officer asked why he was traveling so much? He honestly answered "i'm doing business abroad". What do you think? INS officer initiated investigation and put him on deportation. Reason? "Absence of immigration intent!!!!". The case was quickly dismissed by immigration judge. My cousin was telling me how angry the judge was at prosecutors, he told them not to waste tax money like this anymore. So... what would be the right choice for him? Taking risk and making money (now he has a $1M house in LA) or be "careful" and live in some crappy hollywood apartment until his citizenship?
People who left employer early or want to leave early will say it is ok; because it suits their needs.
People who plan on staying later or don't have any intention of leaving early will say to stay.
Bottom line is it is upto everyones own risk tolerance. I have just seen some of the biggest cowards in terms of immigration all of a sudden get so brave after they got the greencard.
If people are waiting years and playing it safe then what is the possible harm to wait a little longer and not get riled up by every small story of someone who got questioned at citizenship time, etc.
Immigration laws don't change very often; however, uscis interpretations and memos do change quite frequently. When you have to start hiring lawyers, go to court, face uncertainty then we'll see how brave people are.

Sorry, if you didn't like my comment. I am of Indian origin, and recognized/enjoyed your poetry and thoughts well. We can surely talk to our peers in any language, but writing for general information exchange on a public forum in our language may lead to regional labelling of our forum, which we don't intend.
First up all I am not that poetic; so I want to discredit the credits bestowed up on me by you. What labelling r u talking about? Why are you so afraid about things that have no bearing on anybody. Being Indian/ Chinese/ Philippine has nothing to do with it as long as the comments elicit positive energy among peers. I am not talking about blantaly jotting down everything in a non-english language; I am only talking about poetic stanza's people pen that removes some sadness or frustration about the whole immigration fiasco.
As far as talking about peers, I consider IV folks to be my peers too. ;)

Why the bloody hell are you guys judging him for what he has done? He only asked for some advise regarding immigration implications of his situation.
I do not think any of you who is beating him down like this has any right in doing so. I bet that each and every one of you have done more mistakes than Mr.Sahaayam did. You just were never caught. You must have done more filthy things than 'shop lifting'. I'm sure you have all lusted after women, watched porn, frequented strip clubs and drank a lot of filth. Some of you might have slept with more than one woman.
Don't you think these are more filthy than shoplifting? Guys come on! I would not have any problem if one of you who has never committed any mistakes in life would point out other people's mistakes. But none of you are good enough.
If anyone wants to reply to my post, I would like the first person to do so to be the one who has never committed any mistakes in life so far! Others please get lost.
And you are defending a guy who has committed shop-lifting with this? You should have probably come out with more ammunition than this. Because of ppl like the OP and maybe you, we Indians are getting a really bad rep everywhere. I am sick and tired of defending our community, when ppl like you and the OP defend (or even condone, in the name of an immigration query) such acts with no compunction. Shame on the OP and for defending him, YOU!
OP, please get lost from this forum and from this country. This country is not for criminals like you (there are enough already). I wish you had gotten a stricter sentence than what you got. And those of you that want to defend the OP or the folks that condone such acts, in the name of immigration, dont need to lecture me on taking this stance - just get lost, will ya!
I wish the Admins delete this thread and not encourage such postings!

What are the downsides of the point based system?
- The bill may take too long to shape-up and implement; thus holding off any meaningful reform to address the current retrogression problem.
- Others, please list
What are its advantages?
- No need of lawyer
- Employer independent (Is it true?)

I really wish all the desi companies, who get people from India, and put them on bench to find a project ,be banned. They screwed H1B, and in turn all the deserving H1B candidates.
here also they process so many H1s..... for various many people.... skills/no skills... keep them on bench.... inflate resumes....

Idea of sending cds, chips, to congress has been discussed last year.
I am of the opinion that we should send helmets. (kids bike helmets).
Check this thread:
http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1265&highlight=helmet
I suggest we initiate a campaign called "PROTECT THE BRAIN". That is protect the talent and knowledge of immigrants,
and facilitate Permanent residency for legal talented immigrants.
I agree that we should send lawmakers something big, bulky, and noticeable.
Something that sits in their offices, is personalised with different colors and notes giving the same message. I feel that books or cds can just be unattractive and not a big topic of discussion amongst the staff. (Ultimately it has to be something unusual to create curiosity and attract attention and discussion)
So we send them helmets with our degree certificates/ message from IV pasted on it.
Helmets will say "protect brains". Save the country from losing legal high tech workers.
http://www.bhsi.org/cheapies.htm
If you need helmets for a campaign, or perhaps just for a large family, we routinely see Sunday newspaper ads in our area for helmets certified to the CPSC standard for between $10 and $20. Toys 'R' Us has them every day for $8 to $25, and Target has them in the same range, starting at $7.14 and as low as $6.39 to $5.79 when on sale. Walmart has Bell brand youth, adult and toddler helmets starting at $7.14
Some local bike shops will shave their prices for a campaign to encourage more walk-in business. So you may find good helmets for your program at a local discounter or bike shop.
There are also good deals from mail order suppliers with ads in bicycle magazines or on the Internet. Since the CPSC standard became law in 1999, any helmets you buy should have the sticker inside certifying to it.
If you are seeking bids for a large order, or do not have local sources of cheap helmets, there are alternatives:
These helmets can be recycled and given away to charity or for lower income programs supporting kids.

Message from USCIS Director Emilio Gonzalez
I understand that individuals are planning to send flowers to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) beginning on Tuesday, July 10. USCIS has made arrangements to forward those flowers to our injured service members recuperating at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and at Bethesda Naval Hospital.
But yes, media is all over it

Some more relevant info:
http://wdr.doleta.gov/directives/attach/TEGL5-02_Attach.html
11. Does the SVP code indicate whether a Bachelor's or Master's degree is the normal entry requirement for the occupation?
The SVP code for the occupation is relevant, but not necessarily determinative. SVP time can include experience, formal education, and any combination of experience and education. Thus, the SVP alone is not a guide as to whether the occupation requires a Bachelor's or Master's degree. Do not infer that a job requires a particular educational level based solely on the SVP rating. Of course, an advanced degree exceeds the allowable SVP for jobs at SVP 6 and below.
This confirms that MS is OK for zone IV (SVP 7)!

I believe they might have assigned a visa number to you. Please raise a SR or take infopass and try to find out more.
I was current in 2008 and then got RFE for me and for my spouse in 2008. We provided the evidence then. The status changed from RFE to RFE Review on Aug-1-2010.

What is your EB category?
When i checked my status online, i saw that there was a LUD on my pending case on 10/7 and 10/8. Wondering there is a LUD, I called the NSC and the person on the phone told me that the case is being reviewed by an officer.
My question is that if there are no numbers available, then why would there be a LUD on the case status. So has anyone else seen a LUD on their cases as recently as after Oct 1, 2008????
MY PD is March 2006
