Guys, i'm not a member of the IC board or anything, but it's clear to me the benefits of contributing.
Illegals are contributing money, and more importantly their time and particpating in rallies en masse, meeting lawmakers, talking with the press, etc....folks, i'm not saying everyone can do such things here....but the leasst you could do is contribute $100 or $200 to this effort. Writing a check is the simplest thing to do....no one is asking you to stand in the cold air rallying for the cause (altho that would be helpful too...but i know many folks on the west coast, texas, etc probably won't be able to make it).
To put this more directly, if no relief comes out of this immigration reform session for us legal, skilled immigrants, you will have no one else but yourself to blame:(

I only see 3 approvals in Oct...
I asked my attorney he said that I need to wait at least 1 more year. The Nov and Dec are gone in holidays. These Gov emp are worst then Indian Gov Emp.

I have an nre repatriable demat acct thru icici - it took all of 5 mnths and over 30 calls to cust svc to get the acct opened. The acct was mainly for utilizing the indian stock opts given by employer. You can trade as an NRI but online trading is not available for US residents on nre demat accts - u can however trade thru a broker like sharekhan etc.
All dividends are credited only to your NRE savings a/c - not to regular savings a/c. Any stock sale requires an authorization number which the broker can provide. Taxes on capital gains must be paid only if you sell within a year of purchase - the percentage is the same as for Indian citizens. There is no tax on long term cap gains
Since we do not have any taxable income in India, and many NRIs make charitable contributions regularly, the tax liabilities are usually not very high
Also there is a very informative section on sify.com for NRI taxation. You are not required to file any tax returns if you are in NRI status and are within the exemption limits.

My personal opinion is that at the national level, the immigration issue was not key. At certain local levels, maybe it was. I think it is time for us at IV to look to the new ocean with new hope.

The article is about a Quarter page but I could find no mention of LEGAL IMMIGRATION issues such as RETROGRESSION, backlog, etc. :mad:

Oh, I trust the attorneys to file it correctly, I was just wondering if there was any way of finding out if it was received and processed correctly. With the H1B, 140, 485, etc. you get a receipt notice, but I wasn't sure if that was the case with the G28, probably not.
The thought of the remote possibility of any correspondence from the USCIS going to the old attorney (for whatever reason), and not making it to me/new attorney in time to respond to it, is a little unnerving.
Well, anyway, no point losing sleep over these things, although it is easier said than done.

I agree. And this has happened. This happens NOT because new Attorney's G 28 did not get filed properly, it happens because VO may mix it up. Usually when a employer requests a revocation of 140 - in real - what the employer requests is "As this employee has left the company the prospects of his future employment with us is not there and we will not support this 140 petition in future. In other words an employer is telling INS "They will never hire you in future".
So the VO does two things here. They send acknowledgment letters to the employer and their Attorney on file and send RFE/NOID to you and your Attorney. In this process some mix up might happen. Remember, a lot of VOs are very ignorant about AC21 and they may not follow the guidelines properly. Under the AC21 law it is clear that all you do is to change job to a same/similar position. As long as you follow law nothing must happen.
Check your online status regularly - if you see LUDs call customer service - verify your address. If you do not get mail in 5 days - call again - if it is 15 days past call and ask them to fax it.

If LOA can stop the old employer from revoking I-140, I would say, go for it. But just make sure you don't land into any other trouble (like non-competent etc. just an example, may not be relevant in your case, but you get the idea...).
Also, discuss with the new employer and make sure they are ok with supporting you in case of an RFE. From your response, looks like they might know what it is. What I can think of is, consult an attorney and discuss what kinda RFEs you can get that needs employer help (mostly EVL, ability to pay), prepare a sample response letter for both and check with the new employer they are ok with providing them if necessary.

I always cleaned my room, in India and here. What's wrong with that? Infosys founder Narayan Murthy cleans his own toilet (as per his own admission to a newspaper). Does it make him an 'inferior' person to you? Don't you vacuum your room every weekend? Does that make you any lesser person? Ever heard of dignity of labor?

This is rather discouraging if this is true. This basically says one can't require any experience for zone IV if you require MS.
Well, MS + 11 month (but not 12) will do then, cause zone IV is has SVP "7.0 to < 8.0"
The question is then: In question 6-A on the PERM form do they mean experience including 4 yrs of MS or experience in addition to those 4? From my negative experience it looks like this number is what is used to compare with the respective SVP time, so it does include 4 yrs for MS (2 yrs for BS)

I don't know if this question has been asked before. Is there a benefit for filing AP by paper rather then electronically. I filed EAD by paper to TCS and got the "Card Production Ordered" email yesterday (in 14 days) for myself and my wife. My friends who efiled just received finger printing appointment notification and no receipts. Is there same benefit with AP? Please calrify.

I know for sure that local office send an e-mail to processing center, it is not in Nebraska or Texas, it is at National Benefits Center (MSC). Mine and my husband's status of EAD was "no decision" . The e-mail sent to MSC with request to finalize the decision. I did not take any evidence, I did not know at that moment that I could. But it worked and I had my EAD after 7 days to be exact.
